Hours per week: 37 Monday – Friday, 9am to 4pm

Role Length: This opening assignment is for 3-4 months

City: Portsmouth, Hampshire

Candidates may need to have the use of a car for the role, so it would be an advantage if you have a current driving UK licence and daily use of a vehicle.

Candidates may be expected to work from any of the 7 area offices and carry out work outside of office hours as per the needs of the service and customer.

The successful candidates will support customers by providing budgeting advice, assistance with maximising income, tackling anti-social behaviour, working as part of the multi-agency team involved with a family and advising tenants on how to maintain their homes and keep their gardens in good repair.

Key responsibilities:

Supporting customers to pay their rent and dealing with rent arrears.

Take appropriate tenancy enforcement action when proportionate and necessary to do so.
Dealing with tenancy issues either about the property or complaints made about the tenants (e.g. anti-social behaviour).
Arranging repairs for tenants and completing property inspections as necessary.
Arranging repairs for tenants.
Setting up and managing accounts with the Finance Team.
Issuing landlord's consent for works, and deeds of variation as required under lease terms.

Skills & Experience:

Minimum of 12 months recent experience in a similar role, or context and ideally within a public sector organisation.
Have experience of working with tenants in a challenging front-line service and be comfortable visiting customers in their home.
Excellent people skills with the ability to resolve conflict, but have a sympathetic, friendly and empathetic manner to be able to understand the situations of our customers.
Good written and verbal communication skills and have an attention to detail
The ability to learn quickly and to understand and work with new concepts
Some experience of working in a housing management.
experience of using your sound judgement to make informed decisions regarding the cases you manage and being able to consider all the facts of a case, including working with others and utilising other resources to achieve the right result for customers.
Strong IT skills including Microsoft packages or equivalent (e.g. G Suite).
