The role is office based.



The role:

We're looking for a committed and compassionate Housing Officer, who can deliver excellent customer service, and who can support tenants so that they meet their responsibilities and sustain their tenancies as outlined in their tenancy agreement.

This is a tenancy management role where you will have effective conversations with customers from a wide range of backgrounds.

You will need to be open and approachable with good questioning techniques, whilst able to have direct conversations and at times deal with challenging behaviour.

A social housing background is highly desirable for this role.



Key responsibilities:

Provide excellent customer service to tenants, ensuring they understand their tenancy responsibilities and receive the support they need
Offer advice and guidance on budgeting and income maximisation to help tenants maintain financial stability
Tackle anti-social behaviour appropriately, working collaboratively with other agencies where necessary
Work closely with multi-agency teams to support families
Advise tenants on home maintenance, including keeping homes and gardens in good condition
Where necessary, take proportionate and fair tenancy enforcement action to uphold community standards and ensure compliance



What the client is looking for:

Experience working with tenants in a demanding front-line role, including home visits
Proactive, highly motivated, and able to work quickly and accurately under pressure
Able to adapt work practices to meet the evolving demands of the housing sector
Skilled in listening to customers, prioritising needs, and tailoring responses to individuals
Strong communication and rapport-building skills, with the ability to identify vulnerabilities and support tenancy sustainability
Experience supporting tenants to meet responsibilities and addressing tenancy breaches effectively
Sound judgment in case management, using available resources and collaboration to achieve positive outcomes
Effective written communication, including emails and preparing documents for case conferences or court
Confident public speaker; able to represent the local authority at court and multi-agency meetings
Proficient in Microsoft Office and maintaining clear and accurate records in IT systems
Advantageous to have a current Driving Licence and use of a vehicle
Ability to be flexible on location and hours to carry out the needs of the business
