General Dynamics Land Systems is on the look-out for a full-time Infrastructure Lead to join our IT Team. The successful and inclusive candidate will earn a favourable salary of £54,000 to £67,500, based on experience and potential. This is an ideal role for someone who has a proactive and positive mindset and a keen desire to grow professionally. Joining an established team based at our Merthyr facility, you will work across a range of stakeholders, working as part of a Global team, a hands-on leader to drive innovation and provide technical guidance to enhance the overall infrastructure architecture in alignment with business objectives. Manage, design, implement and maintain infrastructure equipment, deliver infrastructure projects of complex configurations which includes considerations for data storage, virtualization, collaboration, applications, networks and operating systems. If you were already working in this position, this is what you would have been working on this week:- Lead and Champion GDLS Shared Service IT Infrastructure change activities.
- Be the point of contact for infrastructure related enquiries.
- Hands-on Infrastructure configuration, change and management.
- Deploy scalable, highly available, and fault-tolerant systems.
- Develop and maintain policies, procedures, and standards.
- Ensure the continuity of business operations through infrastructure resilience, disaster recovery planning for IT related applications and systems, and proactive troubleshooting.
- Manage and monitor Azure, M365, Oracle cloud infrastructure, ensuring high availability and performance.
- Responsible for strategic infrastructure planning, capacity management, and evaluating emerging technologies to keep the GDUK ahead of technological advancements.
- Derives captures, analyzes and translates complex IT and business requirements / directions into supporting and enabling information technology architecture and projects, to meet both tactical short term and strategic long term business objectives.
- A deep understanding of networking principles, including local and wide area networking (LAN/WAN), network protocols, routing and switching, network security, and performance optimisation.
- Systems Architecture and Design: Understanding how to develop and implement scalable, reliable, and secure network infrastructures.
- Cloud Computing and Virtualization: Proficiency in cloud platforms like Azure and virtualization technologies such as VMware or Hyper-V.
- Automation and Orchestration: Using scripting languages (e.g., Python, PowerShell) and orchestration tools (Aria) to automate tasks and manage complex deployments.
- Operating Systems: Proficiency in various operating systems, including Linux, Windows Server, and UNIX.
- Database Management: Managing, storing, and securing company data effectively
- Deep knowledge of cloud infrastructure and multiple cloud technologies with the ability to operate in and migrate across public and private clouds (Azure, Oracle, M365).
- Infrastructure and Security risk identification and management.
- Identification of Infrastructure bottlenecks and required performance engineering.
- Willingness to work with other IT team members, GDUK employees and 3rd parties to achieve successful business outcomes.
- Essential criteria:
- M365 administration Entra ID, Endpoint/Intune, Exchange, SharePoint & Teams.
- Utilize Microsoft Defender for Endpoint to protect and secure endpoints.
- Azure Policies.
- Dell PowerEdge Servers.
- VMWare ESXi & NSX.
- Citrix Netscalers, Virtual Apps & Desktop, Citrix Hypervisor.
- Active Directory (AD/DNS).
- Pure Storage.
