About the Role and our Ideal Candidate
About the role
The role reports directly to the Estate Caretaking Supervisor and is responsible for ensuring our council estates and communal areas in housing estates are tidy, litter free, clean and safe. The role will sit within on of our Estates Caretaking Team who deliver a range of specialist services across the councils housing estates (communal areas only).
The range of services the team will deliver are: Litter picking, Clearing of external communal hard standing areas, Deep Cleaning, Bulk Removal, Minor Communal Repairs, Responding to other estate issues.
About you
You will have:
Experience of cleaning or caretaking, ideally in a social housing/commercial setting.
Knowledge and understanding of health and safety regulations related to the caretaking of social housing and housing estates.
Ability to carry out a range of basic maintenance tasks.
Ability to work outdoors in all weathers and in an environment that may include potential exposure to hazardous substances and manual handling of heavy objects.
Proficient in using a smartphone/basic IT databases.
Good communication skills with the ability to communicate clearly, confidently, and appropriately with colleagues using the best methods of communication for the task.
A full driving licence.

The Estate Caretaking Team on the Cambridge Road Estate is newly created team with the roles covering both cleaning and neighbourhood response services, It's an exciting time to be joining the team as the estate is in the first phase of a large-scale regeneration which will provide 2,170 new high-quality sustainable homes, including 941 affordable homes, of which 767 will be council-rented, a community centre, green streets and outdoor spaces for the residents and communities to enjoy for generations.
