Regional Trading Standards (North West) has an exciting temporary position for a Regulatory Enforcement Officer / Investigator within our busy Trading Standards Investigations Team.

Trading Standards Investigations sees officers investigating criminality across the region such as doorstep crime, fraud, and money laundering. The team seeks to protect our most vulnerable residents and supports legitimate businesses, promoting economic growth by tackling rogue traders and alongside our financial investigators taking the profit out of crime.

You will be responsible for investigating a range of alleged offences across the Trading Standards function. This includes the gathering of evidence, taking witness statements, carrying out suspect interviews in accordance with PACE and the associated codes of practice and the submission of investigations report in line with service standards.

We are looking for candidates with an investigative mind, an inquisitive nature and an attention to detail. You will be diligent and motivated with excellent interpersonal and organisational skills, being able to communicate effectively with members of the public, partner agencies and other stakeholders.

You will have comprehensive knowledge of criminal law and procedures. 5 x GCSE’s (or equivalent) is essential along with a Trading Standards diploma or equivalent qualification / Investigative qualification and/ or experience (part qualified candidates will also be considered)

The role is a hybrid role meaning you will be expected to work at home and at a range of offices as determined by the needs of the service. If operational needs require you may be expected to work evenings or early mornings occasionally.

A driving licence is essential.
