An exciting opportunity has arisen to join Cheshire East Council’s Information Rights Team as an Information Rights Officer.

This post directly supports the Council’s commitment to being an “open” organisation and working transparently with our residents, businesses and partners to deliver our ambition in Cheshire East. Given the timing of this recruitment, interviews will be held week commencing 9 December 2024 with a view to appointment in the New Year.

ABOUT THE ROLE

The role of Information Rights Officer will support the Information Rights Team Leader in the delivery of the Council’s responsibilities under the UK General Data Protection Regulation and Data Protection Act, Freedom of Information Act, Environmental Information Regulations, Re-use of Public Sector Information Regulations, and associated legislation, including the preparation of responses and conducting internal reviews. You will provide advice and guidance across the organisation to support all staff on compliance with information rights legislation.

The successful candidate will identify opportunities for the proactive publication of information and datasets as part of the Council’s aim to be an open and transparent organisation, and engage with services to promote best practice, share learning and identify improvements. Some technical ability will be required to lead on the management, development and training of the case management system used across the organisation.
