About the JIO
The Joint Intelligence Organisation (JIO) primarily supports the Joint Intelligence Committee (JIC) and the Foreign Policy and Security Council, the Prime Minister and other key decision-makers by providing authoritative, robust all-source intelligence assessment on a vast range of national security and foreign policy priorities.
Our work covers, and goes beyond, ‘traditional’ national security topics such as geopolitical issues and threats to British interests. We apply a national security lens to issues such as emerging technology, economic and health security, climate change and horizon scanning (for example, identifying and monitoring countries at risk of instability).
Working at the heart of national security, you will lead and inspire talented teams of specialists to deliver new sources of insight for intelligence assessment and support DD Digital Transformation in delivering the digital transformation JIO will need to generate the real value that technology innovation will bring.
If your application is successful, you will:
- Lead and inspire talented teams of specialists to deliver new sources of insight for intelligence assessment - including insights from data, visualisation and open source.
- Oversee a range of specialist projects across data analysis and data science; graphic design; academia and private sector outreach; and crowd forecasting. All of which will draw on new forms of technology.
- Create a culture of innovation by enabling specialists to adopt and embed solutions and services that enrich our intelligence assessments, and our day-to-day operations.
- Build strong partnerships with JIO’s technology and transformation partners, both inside Government and out. Working with the new Deputy Director for Transformation, Innovation and Insights, you will ensure JIO’s digital requirements are included in the UK Intelligence Community’s (UKIC) digital transformation programme (DTX). This will include rolling out new platforms across the JIO, and identifying ways in which to leverage higher classification data analysis for strategic assessment.
