Summary

What skills and experience we're looking for

Ever since Birchfields Primary School opened in 1930, we’ve been at the heart of our local community. Today, we’re a busy and welcoming three-form primary school that reflects the rich multicultural diversity of south Manchester. Our extensive site means there’s plenty of outdoor space, and we are delighted that our recent Ofsted inspection (October 2024) resulted in a judgement of Good with Outstanding features.

We’re delighted to be able to invite applications to become a Headteacher who shares our love of learning, our positivity and our big ambitions for the school, its children, staff and community. We are seeking an outstanding leader who will work openly and positively in close collaboration with all our stakeholders to secure our continuing development as a school, and to support the whole school community to achieve its best.

Our new Headteacher will:

• Lead with vision, drive, compassion and empathy
• Demonstrate our school values of good health, respect, kindness, resilience, equality and honesty
• Ensure the school sits at the heart of our local community and that its diversity is celebrated
• Recognise and nurture what makes our school unique
• Have a collaborative and open, supportive style

Our children ask that you will:

• Celebrate our strengths and differences
• Listen to what we say, invite our challenge and act on our feedback
• Support and challenge us all so we can all reach our potential
• Welcome our ideas and is happy to give new things a go
• Make everyone feel welcome, safe and valued

What the school offers its staff

We offer you:

• A thriving, inclusive school with strong core values
• An energetic and highly skilled staff team of around 90, a dedicated governing body and highly engaged parents and carers
• A vibrant learning environment, where children behave beautifully and flourish
