Summary

Due to the continued success and growth of our business, we’re looking for an enthusiastic and experienced Internal Communications Manager to lead and shape our internal communications strategy. This is an exciting, permanent full-time role based at our Head Office in York, with the potential for occasional travel. You'll play a pivotal role in ensuring that our teams across Retail, Warehouse, and Head Office are aligned, informed, and inspired by our mission and values. This is a unique opportunity to join a dynamic, supportive team and to make a real impact on how we connect with our people.
As the Internal Communications Manager, you will be responsible for designing and executing a strategic approach to internal communications that fosters transparency, engagement, and alignment with our brand values. This position is crucial in driving employee engagement and cultivating a culture where every colleague feels valued and connected. You’ll work closely with our senior leadership team to support key messaging, engage our employees in meaningful ways, and deliver communication initiatives that enhance our company culture and purpose.
Pavers has been trading for over 50 years and is a highly profitable and fast-growing family business with a strong balance sheet and a turnover over £200m. We also own the Jones Bootmaker, Herring Shoes, and Padders / Van Dal footwear business’, remain acquisitive, and employ over 1900 people. Key Responsibilities of our Internal Communications Manager:
Strategy Development: Create and execute a cohesive internal communications strategy, with action plans that support business goals, enhance engagement, and build a strong internal brand aligned with our values and vision, and enhance our employee engagement.
Content Creation: Develop engaging, accessible, and informative content across multiple channels, including emails, newsletters, presentations, videos, and our internal apps, tailoring messages for different teams and levels across the organisation.
Leadership Communications: Partner with senior leaders to craft and deliver impactful messages, announcements, and presentations that communicate strategic goals and reinforce our culture and values.
Campaign Management: Lead company-wide campaigns that promote key initiatives, such as new product launches, sustainability projects, or significant company updates, ensuring consistent messaging that resonates with all employees.
Employee Engagement: Design and implement initiatives to foster a strong sense of belonging, pride, and alignment with our company values across Head Office, Warehouse, and Retail teams.
Event Communications: Coordinate internal communication for events such as town halls, annual conferences, and employee recognition programs, ensuring information is conveyed effectively and attendance is maximised.
Feedback and Insights: Establish channels for feedback, regularly assess the effectiveness of communication through pulse checks, surveys, and data analytics, and continuously refine strategies based on insights.
Channel Management: Oversee and optimise the use of internal communication platforms, ensuring messages are delivered to the right audience, in the right format, and at the right time.
Cross-functional Collaboration: Collaborate with our support services, operations, marketing, and other teams to ensure consistent messaging and alignment on company objectives and projects.
Ideal Candidate:
Experience: A minimum of 3 years in internal communications, preferably within a retail or fast-paced consumer environment.
Skills: Excellent writing, editing, and presentation abilities; skilled in creating impactful content for varied audiences.
Tools: Proficiency with communication platforms such as intranets, email marketing, survey tools like Qualtrics, and collaboration tools like Teams or Slack.
Project Management: Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic environment.
