Applications are invited for the post of Head of Counselling and Mental Health working within the Directorate of Student Life at Royal Holloway University of London.

This full-time role provides an exciting opportunity to lead our Counselling & Mental Health team and play an important role in the delivery of Royal Holloway’s wellbeing and experience offering. The Directorate of Student Life includes a broad range to teams who are core to the student journey:

Reporting to the Director of Student Life, they will contribute to the work of the Directorate taking the management lead for this aspect of our student support following the strategy and aims of the University and demonstrating our University values - being Daring, Innovative, Open and Respectful.

They will be required to lead on the provision of inclusive and accessible support, act as operational and case lead for the team of Counsellors and Mental Health Practitioners always ensuring a high professional standard of student support. They will need to demonstrate experience of working with and providing support to clients from underrepresented groups (including POC and LGBTQ+) and an understanding of the potential barriers to engagement to these groups.

We are also seeking a candidate with a commitment to the ethos of continual service improvement and who will have the confidence to constructively challenge existing practices in response to professional and sector developments, analysis of processes and feedback from students and staff, and modernisation of operations. With this role there is a need for some campus-based working to enable in-person student appointments (based on student preference and need) but there will be some opportunity for working remotely.
