We are in search of a Lead Learning Support Assistant who will manage a team of 6-10 LSAs in our Pathways department. The post will be line managed by Head of SEND Support or Deputy Head of SEND Support.

Duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to:

• Devise and deliver enrichment activities which reflect individuals needs and abilities and providing opportunities for social independence and personal development in line with EHCP outcomes.

• Alongside other Senior TAs/LSAs, deploy Learning Support/Teaching Assistants Teams to ensure individual learners receive high quality support and safe staffing levels are maintained

• Preparation and delivery of lessons, under the guidance of teacher and cover planned lessons in the absence of the teacher

• Promote Totton College’s provision through liaison and open activities and prepare prospective learners through transition activities.

• Assist in the delivery of all accredited and non-accredited qualifications and support the practical and theoretical elements of the courses offered through the Study Programme and support learners social and development needs throughout the college day.

• Assist teaching staff in providing group and 1-2-1 support to ensure learners achieve their EHCP outcomes and meet academic targets.

The successful candidate will have:

• Previous experience of working in post 16 education, ideally in a support role.

• Some understanding of EHCPs and the annual review and consultation process

• Experience working with students with ADHD, ASD, anxiety and SEMH

• Strong communication, teamwork, organisational and leadership skills

• be able to manage and prioritise time well

Qualifications

• English and maths: level 2 or above OR equivalent experience

• Level 2/3 Supporting Teaching & Learning in Schools or equivalent or willingness to work towards.

A DBS check will be required for this role.
