We are looking for enthusiastic Radiology Fellows (3) to join the team of existing Specialist Musculoskeletal (MSK) Radiologists working cross-site to provide a complete spectrum of general and specialist MSK, Trauma, and Sarcoma Radiology services both locally and nationally. The post will contribute to the provision and development of these services in conjunction with Radiology and clinical colleagues. Based jointly between the Radiology Department at the John Radcliffe Hospital, Headley Way, Oxford OX3 9DU, and the Nuffield Orthopaedic Centre, Windmill Road, Oxford OX3 7HE.

The purpose of this post is to provide broad post-CCT training experience in musculoskeletal radiology. The fellow will be expected to: i) work with the consultants and SpRs to fulfil the clinical obligations of the department, ii) participate in research projects, iii) participate in formal and informal teaching.

The post-holder will be expected to keep himself/herself fully up-to-date with their relevant areas of practice

The Trust comprises four hospitals - the John Radcliffe Hospital, Churchill Hospital and Nuffield Orthopaedic Centre in Headington and the Horton General Hospital in Banbury.

The fellow will join the rota initially under the direct supervision of a consultant but will have a more autonomous role as he/she gains experience. The Fellow may be expected to participate in teaching of the specialist registrars and occasionally other medical and non-medical personnel. There are 10 WTE Consultant Radiologists, who perform only skeletal imaging. They also head up the department that comprises of up to 3 Fellows, and two or three Specialist Registrars. The practice covers MSK tumour, paediatric MSK/rheumatology, elective orthopaedic and rheumatological imaging at the Nuffield Orthopaedic Centre, trauma imaging at the John Radcliffe Hospital and elective CT and CT guided intervention at the Churchill hospital.

The post holder will be required to work within the Trust’s management procedures, both statutory and internal, accepting that the resources available to the Trust are finite and that all clinical practice or workload, or developments requiring additional resources must have prior agreement with the Trust. He/she will undertake the administrative duties associated with the care of his/her patients, and the running of his/her department under the direction of the Clinical Director.
