The Role

Are you looking for challenge where you can make a difference to the residents of Bolton?


Bolton Council is seeking a Welfare Rights Officer to provide comprehensive and specialist welfare benefits casework, advocacy and tribunal representation to claimants. Working independently in a small and busy team, you will deliver benefits advice to help customers maximise their income. The main focus of your work will be representing customers at first tier tribunals and taking appropriate cases to the Upper Tribunal.


About You

You will have a detailed knowledge of social security benefits and legislation and be able to work under pressure to juggle demands and priorities, keeping customers informed and records up to date. You will enjoy helping vulnerable customers exercise their legal rights and entitlements. You will be confident and competent using IT applications to support your casework and will possess a high standard of written and verbal communication.
