Summary
This is an opportunity for an experienced clinical psychologist holding doctoral level professional qualifications, to be the lead psychologist for the Mental Health Liaison and Psychological Medicine Service based in the Tower Hamlets Town Hall in Whitechapel, covering the Royal London Hospital. This will be for a period of 6 months to cover maternity leave. The role includes supervising psychology trainees, supporting and containing the staff team who hold a high level of clinical risk, providing brief psychological interventions to patients on the medical wards and providing support to the senior leadership team on a day to day basis
Be responsible and accountable for the development and direct provision of an autonomous and systematic specialist clinical psychology service in the MHL service
Be responsible for the provision, planning and development of evidence based psychological therapies service for people referred to the Mental Health Liaison Service
To contribute to the achievement of Service objectives as a member of the senior clinical team.
To lead on service developments as delegated by the clinical lead and operational manger
To be responsible for the day to day management of psychological provision to the team. They will identify areas for development or challenges and work closely with the clinical leads, operational manager and senior psychologists to implement and address these.
To operate as an integrated member of the team, placing the patient at the centre of service planning and delivery. Ensure the provision of specialist teaching and supervision and advice concerning the assessment and treatment of patients referred to the team
To bring a psychological perspective to the work of the team.
To develop and support the psychosocial work of other staff through teaching, training supervision and consultation.
To provide psychosocial assessment, formulation and interventions to patients.
To provide specialist advice to the hospital teams and voluntary sector agencies concerning the assessment, treatment and management of patients accessing the team
