Summary

The role of the receptionist in a healthcare practice is vital for ensuring smooth operations and excellent patient care. Key responsibilities include: Appointment Management:Maintain and monitor the appointment system by processing personal, telephone, and electronic requests for bookings, ensuring efficient scheduling and minimising waiting times. Call Handling:Answer incoming phone calls, transfer calls, and address callers' requests promptly, using effective communication to direct patients to appropriate services. Patient Signposting:Guide patients to the right healthcare professional based on their needs, ensuring they receive timely and appropriate care. Data Entry:Accurately enter and update patient information and records in EMIS Web, including new registrations and healthcare data, while adhering to confidentiality protocols. Documentation Management:Scan, photocopy, and file documents, attaching relevant paperwork to patient records to maintain comprehensive and organised files. Handling Queries:Manage requests for information, including Subject Access Requests and other documentation, directing them to the administrative team as needed. Support for Clinical Staff:Assist clinical team members with general tasks and help set up clinics, enabling them to focus on patient care.
