The role of the Content Editor is to support the Content Manager with the creation, development and continuous improvement of content that feeds into the strategic objectives of the Skills and Training business and our Employability business.

You will need to be flexible to change and may be required to work on multiple projects across several contracts at the same time.

Content Editors will be responsible for creating a variety of content from skills and education to employability.

You will be asked to create original content to which you must ensure we protect the intellectual property and copyright of as well as working to transform content purchased from third party suppliers.

You will be expected to develop content to a high standard which puts Serco as ‘best in class’ amongst our competitors and provides an exceptional user experience to our customers.


Key Accountabilities

- Supporting the Content Manager to capture the needs and requirements of the business in relation to a content request.
- Contributing ideas towards content proposals and supporting with the writing of proposals.
- Have a forward thinking and innovative approach to content curation that meets the business needs.
- Curating, editing, reviewing, and maintaining content across a wide range of systems.
- Sourcing the latest content which will add value to customer and business.
- Undertaking the necessary research and due diligence when creating content
- Feedback to the Content Manager with any concerns, issues, or ideas for improvement.
- Implementing feedback from end users and demonstrate continuous improvement.
- Ensure all changes to content are tracked and recorded accurately.
- Support the Content Manager with a quality assurance process and the sign-off of content.
- Be able to provide the business with content demonstrations and prioritise development and improvements accordingly.
- Be able to interpret business requirements and work in an agile way to deliver content.
- Manage projects across multiple contracts and provide progress reports to the Content Manager.
- Track project progress through MS Planner or Jira.
- Support the business with designing and developing e-learning and classroom-based learning that is both accredited and non-accredited.
- Support the business with the design and development of collateral for engagement purposes and social media marketing.What I need to do the role?


- Experience of working within content curation, media/social media, or web content development.
- Researching skills to discover content which provide value added to the contracts Serco deliver.
- Understanding of the employability sector would be preferred.
- Understanding of developing learning materials in line with Ofsted and accredited frameworks would be preferred.
- Understanding of governance, privacy, and data protection.
- Proof reading skills and a high standard of accuracy, spelling, and grammar.
- Creative thinking and the ability to pay attention to detail.
- Ability to work towards tight deadlines and in a fast-paced environment.
- An understanding of customer needs and creating content to suit a wide range of audiences which is accessible to all.
- Experience of content curation software such as Adobe Captivate or Articulate.
- Experience of using graphic design software and suites
- A good understanding of Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) and awareness of the Government Digital Service Standards.
- Experience of implementing gamification within immersive content.
- Ability to learn new systems such as learner management systems and content management systems.
- Ability to develop content within a website.Ability to develop internal content for staff CPD.

- Candidates will be expected to have at least a level 2 qualification in English and maths.This role requires Baseline Personnel Security Standard (BPSS) – covering pre-employment checks:

- identity
- employment history
- nationality/immigration status
- criminal records
