Summary

Opportunity Overview

The Journalism team at the University of Salford is looking for an inspiring Web Content Editor Intern to act as the editor of Salford Now, our public-facing news website and social channels, in 2025/26.

This follows a successful year for Salford Now, during which it has reached record audiences and begun a weekly newsletter with long-form original journalism about Salford.

Having graduated from Salford in the past 12 months, or be about to, this is a great opportunity for a newly-qualified journalist to begin a professional journalism career - and put that journalism training into practice.

The successful candidate will be joining our team of industry professionals in delivering a fresh and stimulating learning experience to the journalists of tomorrow.

Applicants must either have graduated from the University of Salford in the past 12 months, or be about to graduate.

Applicants must also have an undergraduate or postgraduate journalism qualification or be about to complete one.

Key Responsibilities

  • Act as the editor and main journalist for Salford Now
  • Work with staff and students on the Salford Now website, social channels and newsletter, on newsdays and periods in between
  • Use your initiative and expertise to generate original journalism content about Salford, across a range of formats
  • Help promote the Journalism subject area, including taking part in open/applicant visit days
