National Counter Terrorism Policing is looking for a motivated, dynamic and suitably qualified Learning & Development Training Officer to deliver training across the United Kingdom Terrorism Network in the Intelligence capability area.
The role
The National Counter Terrorism Policing (NCTP) Operational Development Unit (ODU) is a dedicated team who are responsible for the strategic management of Learning, Training and Exercising (LTE) within the Counter Terrorism Network. The Unit forms a key part of the Prepare strand of the Home Office CONTEST Strategy. Working alongside a number of strategic partners the ODU harnesses the value of shared Learning, Training and Exercising (LTE) to ensure the CT Network and partners are ready, prepared and interoperable to respond to current and emerging terrorism threats. You will work to design, develop, deliver and evaluate CT specific training courses aligned to the Intelligence Capability outlined above.
As part of a team, you'll assist in the development and delivery of a range of blended training and continuous professional development products to staff and officers nationally, under the guidance of the National Standards of Intelligence Management (NSIM) and other processes within the intelligence thematic area. It will be necessary for you to deliver a full training service within the capability area, in an effort to ensure operational performance is developed and maintained. Your acquired knowledge of formulating training techniques and delivery experience will be utilised when working as part of the team and with colleagues from across the national network. In addition, your enthusiastic approach and penchant for creativity will be drawn upon daily.
We’re happy to consider a more agile approach to your working location and as this is a National role we will consider the successful candidate working from an area outside of the West Midlands. There will be an expectation that you are prepared to travel nationally on a regular basis to perform this role including having to work extended hours at locations throughout the UK.
Responsibilities
To plan, design, prepare, quality assure, co-ordinate and deliver the content and delivery of bespoke CT training throughout the UK. Facilitate opportunities for learning and personal development in accordance with the National Training and Development Strategy.
To develop, validate and evaluate training courses to ensure they achieve organisational objectives, meet customer requirement and contribute to the personal development of students.
To facilitate and deliver the National Counter Terrorism training in accordance with other regional and national trainers and subject experts.
To research, prepare and update lesson plans and any associated training material including hand-outs, PowerPoint slides, etc. for all courses.
Address training issues highlighted in operational or exercise reviews/debriefs to ensure operational performance is maintained and developed.
Ensure the delivery of training packages effectively meets the needs of the CT Network by the most appropriate method, including but not restricted to; facilitation, didactic, demonstration, role-plays and practical case studies.
To assist in the review and development of training modules as part of the national Counter Terrorism training programme.
To assist with the identification of training and development gaps for the CT Network.
To assist with day-to-day administration including but not restricted to; student attendance and liaison with relevant parties, resource preparation, etc.
To be responsible for the supervision, discipline and welfare of students whilst they are on the course and to provide the necessary support and encouragement required for them and their mentors in the workplace.
To assist in monitoring the effectiveness of the learning and development programmes through the identified evaluation process.
To ensure training products are fit for purpose in line with the principles of Best Value.
Take appropriate action in order to create a healthy working and training environment in keeping with the H&S policy and processes.
Monitor and ensure all staff are given equality of opportunity within the learning and development environment.
Liaise with National and Regional departments where necessary, to maintain consistency of training delivery.
Promote equality, diversity and Human Rights in working practices by developing and maintaining positive working relationships, ensuring that colleagues are treated fairly and contributing to developing equality of opportunity in working practices.
