Summary

The Role:
We are looking for an enthusiastic Learning Resources Assistant to join the New City College library team based at our Rainham campus with occasional working at our other nearby sites at Ardleigh Green and Wingletye Lane. We serve a culturally and socially diverse community and offer a wide variety of courses from Entry to postgraduate levels. This role would suit candidates with experience in a library setting, either public or academic.
Key Responsibilities:
Duties include: stock circulation; assisting curriculum staff and students in their use of the learning resources centre including locating print and online resources and providing basic support in the use of IT; staffing the circulation desk; assisting the librarian in processing resources; preparing displays and promoting stock.
Who You Are:
You should have a strong customer-focus, patience, good organisational and communication skills, the ability to manage your own workload with minimal supervision, and enjoy working with young people in a customer-focused environment.
You should have experience in a customer-facing environment, and library experience, whilst not essential, is highly desirable. Good IT skills are essential as you will be supporting students’ computer use in addition to meeting their reading and information needs. You need to be educated to A-level equivalent standard and be passionate about delivering a high-quality service and have the flexibility, creativity and imagination to engage every learner and encourage them to succeed.
