The role
As a Driver - Armoured Fighting Vehicles you'll have a role that's out of the ordinary. The role is to support a small, dedicated team that works directly with the Gunnery School and the Defence Support Group at the Armour Centre on the Lulworth site

Day-to-day, you'll be driving, operating, and maintaining Armoured Fighting Vehicles and any other vehicle which may need some support.

Main responsibilities

  • Carry out Level 1 maintenance and repair tasks as specified in publications for vehicle type. Work to be carried out in accordance with authorised procedures and to be completed to the highest possible standard.
  • Safely drive and control vehicles, on public roads and across country both during the day and at night.
  • Carry out non-specific preparatory work on vehicles including, Minor repairs, General cleaning, washing & painting both inside and out and refuelling
  • Collection and Delivery of vehicle platforms to BDSG/DSG Lulworth as required.
  • Assist in collecting usage information and in carrying out regular checks of stores and equipment as requested.

This position involves manual work. This could include lifting, bending, using tools or standing for extended periods of time.

This role is full time, 39 hours per week and is based on site at our Bovington site.

Essential experience of the Driver - Armoured Fighting Vehicles

  • IT literate with a good knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.
  • Confident communicator capable of representing the Department at meetings or during visits.
  • Full UK Driving Licence
  • Aged 21 and above
