Salary: £31,350 - £47,839 per annum (M1 - UPS3 Fringe) plus a £5,000 Welcome Bonus for Qualified Teachers*
Hours: 40 hours per week

About the School

We are seeking a passionate and committed English Teacher to join a vibrant school in Smallfield, Surrey, part of a leading academy group. This school specialises in supporting children aged 6-11 years with communication challenges, often associated with Asperger's Syndrome and Autism.

The campus is closely linked with another local site, sharing the same Principal and Head of School, while each location has its own Assistant Head and dedicated teams of Teachers and Teaching Assistants. They also offer a comprehensive on-site therapy team to support both staff and students. While each site operates independently, collaboration between staff and students across both locations is encouraged.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and deliver engaging English lessons tailored to meet the diverse needs of our students.
  • Inspire a love for literature and language, fostering creative expression and critical thinking.
  • Build nurturing and supportive relationships with students, ensuring they feel safe, engaged, and ready to learn.
  • Collaborate with the wider educational team to support the holistic development of each pupil-cognitively, socially, emotionally, physically, and spiritually.
  • Adapt to the evolving needs of the school, contributing to its smooth operation, including occasional physical intervention (with full training provided).

Requirements

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent is essential.
  • A degree in English or a related field is highly desirable.
  • Experience teaching English up to GCSE level.
  • Previous experience in a special school environment is highly advantageous.
  • A strong passion for working with children who have special educational needs.
