Summary
The Department for Business and Trade (DBT) brings together business expertise and world-class trade negotiators under the vision of making the UK the best place to start and grow a business – driving growth, increasing jobs, and raising wages and living standards.
The EU Hub is a friendly and high-profile unit which sits within EUST (EU, Services and Trade) Directorate in the Department for Business and Trade. The EU Hub leads the Department of Business and Trade's (DBT) work on the UK-EU relationship, ensuring that our strategic direction, governance, and policy delivery are robust, effective, and aligned with the UK’s economic interests.
In this role, you’ll lead the EU Capability, Governance, and Programme Management Office (PMO) team, where you’ll help make sure that all EU-related work is delivered effectively across DBT, while building the capability of our colleagues to engage with key issues concerning the EU.
We value diverse perspectives and are looking for people who are great communicators, strategic thinkers, and team players. You don’t need to be an expert on EU matters yet as we will provide the training and support you need to grow in this role. What we do want is someone with an enthusiasm for public service, a commitment to collaboration, and a drive to deliver real impact.
If you’re ready to be part of an innovative team working on one of the most important issues facing the UK, apply today and help us shape the future of the UK-EU relationship.
You’ll be leading a diverse and inclusive team, split into three core areas:
- EU Capability: You will help ensure that DBT teams have the skills, knowledge, and resources they need to meet their EU-related objectives. Your team will deliver topical events and signpost to other learning opportunities. This includes understanding the impact of the EU relationship on UK economic interests and keeping up to date with key policy areas that affect our work with the EU.
- Governance and Internal Engagement: In this part of the role, you’ll support DBT in delivering strong and effective governance on EU matters. This means making sure the right structures are in place for accountability, good internal communication, and engagement with ministers on EU-related topics.
- Programme Management Office (PMO): You’ll help your team to design and deliver proportionate programme management solutions for EU-related projects. You’ll be involved in planning, overseeing delivery, managing risks, and driving collaboration across the department and with others across government.
- Some travel – within the UK and possibly beyond – will be required, with some occasional overnight stays.
