Summary

Roles and responsibilities Participate in each 4-month rotation as per the rotas and complete competencies and objectives for each section as defined. For each rotation there will be a designated supervisor and structured package of training. Rotations include: Dispensary HIV & GUM Technical Services Medicines Information Discharge Support Cover Medicine Surgery Paediatrics General responsibilities during and out-of-hours undertaken include the following: Patricipating in the provision of clinical trial medication, including preparation, dispensing and accurate documentation. Participating in staff induction and training for junior pharmacy staff. Participating in service audits as required. Contributing to the production of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for the appropriate section. Maintaining high quality of data input of patient information into the pharmacy computer system in order to ensure excellent labelling standards for dispensed medicine Clinically screening prescriptions and reviewing them for accuracy and legality and identify actual or potential problems. Ensuring the effective supply of medicines suitable for use as an inpatient and appropriately labelled for discharge if applicable. Ensuring the effective outcomes of treatment with medicines Monitoring patients for potential and actual adverse effects of their medicine Dispensing of prescriptions for newly admitted patients if appropriate in order to avoid doses being missed. Dispensing of take home medication in order to support appropriate management of beds. Dispensing of sterile products if appropriate. Initiating drug recalls of defective or clinically inappropriate medicines, according to the local procedure in response to the MHRA, in order to safeguard patient care
