Do you want the challenging experience of Pharmacy Residency within a busy London based teaching hospital with plenty of training and development opportunities?
We currently have an exciting opportunity for a pharmacist to join our Residency Team to provide a 24-hour operational and clinical service to meet the demands in a busy hospital environment at Chelsea and Westminster Hospital NHS Foundation Trust (Chelsea & Westminster Hospital Site only).
As a Resident Pharmacist you will work as part of a shift system delivering a pharmacy service during nights, evenings and weekends. There is also a training and development opportunity to undertake the UCL School of Pharmacy - Post Graduate Diploma in Pharmacy Practice for which Chelsea & Westminster Hospital NHS Foundation Trust is an accredited centre.
We invite qualified pharmacists and trainee pharmacists who are taking the pre-registration assessment exam in November 2024 and will be registered by 1st January 2025, to apply.
Interviews will be conducted either virtually or in person.

The post holder effectively participates in the provision of Clinical and operational pharmaceutical services to Chelsea and Westminster NHS Foundation Trust (Chelsea & Westminster Site) under appropriate supervision for grade and experience rotating through various specialist areas on a 4 month basis.
They also provide an out-of-hours resident pharmacy service on a rostered basis.

Roles and responsibilities
Participate in each 4-month rotation as per the rotas and complete competencies and objectives for each section as defined.
For each rotation there will be a designated supervisor and structured package of training.

• Medicine
• Surgery
• Paediatrics
General responsibilities during and out-of-hours undertaken include the following:
• Patricipating in the provision of clinical trial medication, including preparation, dispensing and accurate documentation.
• Participating in staff induction and training for junior pharmacy staff.
• Participating in service audits as required.
• Contributing to the production of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for the appropriate section.
• Maintaining high quality of data input of patient information into the pharmacy computer system in order to ensure excellent labelling standards for dispensed medicine
• Clinically screening prescriptions and reviewing them for accuracy and legality and identify actual or potential problems.
• Ensuring the effective supply of medicines suitable for use as an inpatient and appropriately labelled for discharge if applicable.
• Ensuring the effective outcomes of treatment with medicines
• Monitoring patients for potential and actual adverse effects of their medicine
• Dispensing of prescriptions for newly admitted patients if appropriate in order to avoid doses being missed.
• Dispensing of take home medication in order to support appropriate management of beds.
• Dispensing of sterile products if appropriate.
• Initiating drug recalls of defective or clinically inappropriate medicines, according to the local procedure in response to the MHRA, in order to safeguard patient care
