Working on a temporary to permanent basis with our manufacturing client who was established over a quarter of a century ago, we are recruiting for an experienced Upholstery Operative
Hours of work are Monday to Friday 08.30 - 16.30
Requirements;
Proven experience in upholstery with a focus on chairs and pelmets
Proficiency in using upholstery tools and machinery
Ability to interpret design specifications and patterns
Strong understanding of upholstery materials, including different types of fabrics, leather, padding and adhesives
Excellent attention to detail and commitment to producing high quality work
The Upholstery Operative is responsible for upholstering a variety of chairs and pelmets, ensuring that pieces meet quality standards and design specifications. The role involves using various upholstery techniques, tools, and materials to produce high quality furniture and interior decor elements.
Carry out all aspects of chair and pelmet upholstery including;
Measuring, cutting, sewing, and fitting fabric, leather and other materials
Upholstering pelmets to enhance window treatments, ensuring precise alignment and a seamless finish
Attaching upholstery materials to chair frames and pelmet structures using appropriate methods (e.g. staples, tacks, adhesives, stiching)
Applying padding, webbing, and other necessary materials to chair frames and pelmets to achieve a smooth and comfortable finish
Ensuring accurate alignment of patterns, seams and design elements during the upholstery process
Inspect completed chairs and pelmets to ensure they meet company standards and specifications
Identify and correct any defects and imperfections in the upholstery work
Operate and maintain upholstery tools and equipment, such as sewing machines, staple guns, and cutting tools
Properly handle and store upholstery materials to prevent damage

Pay rate is £13.00 per hour or £14.57 per hour including holiday pay (PAYE)
