Summary

We have an exciting opportunity for a DBT qualified therapist to apply for a fixed-term part-time position (0.6) at either a Band 6 or 7 level within the West Locality of the Adult Psychology Service. (fixed until end March 2025).

DBT therapists currently work alongside Psychologists and other Specialised Therapists delivering psychological interventions to clients under Secondary Care Mental Health Services (CMHTs). We currently have a small supportive group of DBT therapists dedicated to the delivery of DBT in West Dorset under the line management of the Locality Lead Psychologist for West Dorset.

Therapists deliver adherent DBT therapy in a number of locations in West Dorset (including online). Therapists are expected to attend weekly Consult meetings (currently remote) and group supervision on a monthly basis. DBT therapists in West Dorset work collaboratively alongside CMHT colleagues and are expected to maintain regular communication with CMHT staff. Clinicians are required to maintain clinical records in a timely manner and contribute to service audits as required. APS staff can attend regular internal training events arranged within DHUFT by APS and apply for external training opportunities to maintain CPD.

The successful candidate will be a qualified mental health professional and have completed training in Dialectical Behaviour Therapy. Candidates who have completed DBT accreditation will be eligible for a band 7 position and will be expected to work with greater autonomy and undertake more individual sessions with clients, as well as co-facilitate group work.

Please, contact Dr Rachael Tanner, Locality Lead for West Dorset APS or Dr Lilian Garcia-Roberts, Consultant Psychologist, Clinical & Service Lead Adult Psychology Service (APS) if you wish to have an informal discussion about the role or about the APS Service. DBT therapists currently working within West Dorset would also be happy to provide any specific information about their current role and locality.
