Summary

Duties and responsibilities for the role include but are not limited to: Undertaking Continuing Professional Development in the core subject of medical emergencies, infection prevention control (IPC), disinfection and decontamination, radiography and radiation protection; legal and ethical issues and handling complaints, as recommended by the General Dental Council. Maintaining immunological protection against Hepatitis B in accordance with current guidelines, advising the line manager of any change to immunological status. Carrying out and record daily maintenance, servicing and pre-use checks of dental equipment reporting defects in accordance with current equipment care policies. Ensuring a daily test radiograph is taken and processed with all findings reported in accordance with extant policies and signed off by a clinician or trained individual. Ensuring adequate stocks of consumable dental materials are available within the surgery, maintain an effective expiry list ensuring all expired materials are removed and replaced as required. There may be a requirement to be part of the regional on call rota for out of hours dental emergencies. This commitment is dependent upon local arrangements and may vary. This commitment may also include travelling to dental centres within the region other than the normal place of work. The sift will be completed within 5 working days of the vacancy closing date.
