Summary

Mental Health and Well-Being Support Teaching Assistant


We are seeking a dedicated Mental Health & Well-Being Support Teaching Assistant to join our team at Secondary Schools in Newcastle. Our schools provide support to students with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, anxiety, and other mental health challenges. You will play a vital role in helping these students settle into school life, providing academic, social, and emotional support on a one-to-one basis.

Key Details:
- Location: Secondary Schools in Newcastle
- Start Date: September
- Hours: 8:30 AM - 3:30 PM, term-time only, full-time
- Facilities: Modern schools with excellent facilities, ample parking, and easy access to public transport (bus stop directly outside).

About the Role:
- Provide 1:1 support to students with SEMH and mental health needs.
- Assist students in their learning and development, both socially and emotionally.
- Work closely with other staff members to ensure the best possible outcomes for students.

Requirements:
- Experience working with individuals with Mental Health & SEMH needs, ideally in an educational or care setting.
- Ability to handle situations calmly and sensitively.
- Creative problem-solving skills and the ability to think outside the box when supporting pupils with additional needs.
- Strong interpersonal skills to build trusting relationships with students.
- Collaborative team player, able to work effectively with staff and external partners.
- Genuine care for students' academic, emotional, and personal growth, with a strong sense of empathy.
- Supportive and encouraging attitude to inspire trust and motivate students.
- Initiative to meet individual student needs based on their communication and learning skills.
- Proven experience working with young people or vulnerable adults, paid or voluntary.
- Basic IT skills.
