Role Length: This opening assignment is for 2-3 months

The post holder will provide business and communication support within the SEN team. The post holder will work alongside the Communications Officer to respond and deliver all communications in timely effective manner.

Key Responsibilities:

Receive and action requests for services via email, telephone, post or face to face, determining their importance and priority responding directly where possible or in the case of sensitive or complex requests, refer these to a more senior colleague thereby ensuring that service needs are met, and business levels are maintained.
Respond to all internal and external communications sensitively, diplomatically and using discretion to provide up to date, constant and accurate advice, guidance and information in accordance with relevant regulations, policies and procedures, to ensure standards are maintained and business needs are met.
Support the Communications Officer with routine communications and administration tasks.
Develop and maintain relationships with key partners to ensure effective communication and systemic working practices.
Undertake activities connected with supporting the work of the team ensuring they are properly operated to achieve optimum efficiency and effectiveness.
Input to and update service all communications undertaken on the appropriate systems.
Ensuring all relevant members of the team are made aware of any communications. Maintain a log of all communications received and their outcomes.



Qualifications:

A good standard of education to at least GCSE standard in English and Maths (grade 4-9)
Willingness and ability to obtain and/or enhance qualification and training for development in the post.



Skills & Experience:

Minimum of 12 months recent experience in a similar role or context and ideally within a public sector organisation.
Experience of providing clear and concise advice to parents, schools and other agencies on sensitive, difficult and confidential issues.
Ability to work well under pressure and accurately to deadlines and internally and externally set performances indicators.
Ability to communicate effectively and provide appropriate advice in relation to the statutory and LA policies and procedures around SEN.
Strong IT skills including Microsoft packages or equivalent (e.g. G Suite, Adobe Pro).



Access to a vehicle and full AUK driving licence required.
