The Role & Responsibilities: 
The role is responsible for acting as chauffeur to the Chairman of the Council and Vice-Chairman of the Council, although from time-to-time other senior elected members may also be chauffeured.

The role will also be required from time-to-time to assist the Chairman or Vice-Chairman at functions and engagements, which will be a publicly visible role as a representative of the Council.

This will also involve assisting the Chairman at events and can include accompanying the Chairman to a broad range of events from celebratory occasions to remembrance ceremonies. The role would also assist with the Chairman’s preparations for full Council meetings.

The role will involve a mixture of daytime and out of hours working, primarily evening and weekends. This post is zero hours.

We are looking for several people to fill this role and work will be offered on a casual basis.
This role will support the work of the Democratic Services team and will report to the Head of Corporate Services and Democracy.


Who We Are Looking For:
This role is based at Dover District Council’s Whitfield Offices, which will be the starting point for all your journeys as chauffeur. You will be responsible for funding your own travel to and from work so please consider this if you will have a long commute. 

The Council has an electric vehicle that will be used as the civic car. You will be responsible for collecting and returning the vehicle to the Council Offices.
It will be desirable, although not essential, to have practical experience in chauffeuring duties.

A full, clean, and valid driving licence (driving licence group B) is required for this role.

It is desirable to have experience of chauffeuring dignitaries, and the protocol associated with attending to Senior Elected Members at civic functions but if not, training will be provided as required.

The role will need to have the ability to deal with people and have a willingness and ability to work with minimal supervision.
