Summary


We are looking for Senior Nursing Assistants to join Evelina London's Health Visiting service and be part of the wider Guys & St Thomas’ nursing community in the boroughs Southwark and Lambeth.

Communication, kindness and compassion are really important attributes in this role and you will be supported to develop your skills within experienced nursing teams. You should be highly motivated and enjoy working with people in a positive, energetic - and at times demanding - environment delivering care for children and families.

Our health visiting service is supported by a skill mix team that include innovative support services such as the Early Intervention Health Visiting Service, who support our most complex families. Our health visiting development workers, a dedicated resource working closely with Health Visiting Service to provide one-to-one support and advice to families who need additional support.

You will work in the Health Visiting Team to provide a high standard of administrative and clinical support service as delegated by the Health Visitor. The service is provided in health centres and other clinic settings, to assist with the delivery of The Healthy Child Programme.

Although you will be working within a primary Health Visiting locality, this role requires you to be able to work in other sites within and across the two boroughs (Lambeth and Southwark) in the Trust.

You will need to be able to travel within, and able to arrive for the start of the working day within these sites. This requirement will be driven by the needs of the service.

We welcome applicants with customer care experience or health and social care experience with families either within the NHS or other environments. If you have not worked in a healthcare setting before, we will support you to transfer and develop your skills, knowledge and passion to flourish, and fulfil the responsibilities in this role.

• To provide a comprehensive administrative and clinical support to the Health Visiting
• Team in health centres, Children Centres and other Trust sites as required. This will include answering phone calls from our families and other professionals, booking appointments, liaising with GP practice staff and other services as directed.
• To accompany Health Visitors and other members of the team if required, on home visits and assist appropriately in any developmental reviews.
• To provide an accessible, efficient and user friendly service at all times. You will be setting up and clearing up for child health clinics, and carrying out duties during these sessions such as weighing and measuring of children.
• Post holder will need to have an understanding of child protection and safeguarding of vulnerable children and young people and document and report to the Health Visitor any issues of concern.
• You will be required to order and ensure the safe storage of vaccines if delegated to maintain the ‘cold chain’, as well as ordering other relevant stationery, equipment required by the team. Report any abnormalities related to the vaccine fridge to the named Health Visitor/Health Visitor Team Leader.
• To observe and report accurately any health and safety incidents in the working environment to the Health Visitor team leader/Health Visitor and other team members as appropriate.
• To monitor the safety and maintenance of equipment used in clinical area e.g. weighing scales and length/height measuring equipment.
• To assist as appropriate with setting up and facilitating group work for children and parents in conjunction with the Health Visitor / Child Development Worker and assisting in supervising children during health promotion sessions if required.
