Summary
Provide hands on day-to-day technical support for DBS DIT Infrastructure within the bounds of the agreed Service Level Agreements.
Ensure availability of Live, Test and Development environments and ensure these environments meet the requirements of the end users. Experience with networking devices and Configuration Manager would be advantageous as would knowledge of CIS Benchmarks and their usage.
Provide 1st Line Support.
Assist other Technical Support team members to ensure normal service is restored in the event of any incidents and minimise any disruption in service to the business.
Where forthcoming incidents can be prevented. Ensure remedial action is taken to reduce the risk of issues occurring (Housekeeping & System Checks). Proactively monitor performance and availability of Production systems using tools provided and assist with resolving related issues.
Ensure all relevant documentation in respect of server builds, network configuration, fixes, procedures, and diagrams are completed and maintain as accurate and up to date.
Proactively define and analyse the root cause of specific Infrastructure issues and implement appropriate solutions.
Configure and manage system security ensuring all SSL Certificates are installed correctly and are maintained up to date. Ensure security accreditation is maintained e.g., current Anti-virus, log shipping etc. alongside Firewall management – ensuring robust security rules are maintained. Discuss new rules with IT security to agree access.
Support occasional Maintenance weekend work: install patches, perform upgrades, resolve issues and when appropriate support Data Centre power-down/up requirements including out of hours attendance.
