Summary
We are currently working with a well-established sewing machine company and are looking to recruit on a permanent basis an industrial sewing machine mechanic. You will be working primarily in the Northwest however sometimes work is further afield there are excellent company benefits and use of a company vehicle excellent salary for the right person working days 8.30 – 5pm Monday to Friday.
Job Summary: An Industrial Sewing Machine Mechanic is responsible for inspecting, maintaining, and repairing industrial sewing machines used in manufacturing settings. The primary goal is to ensure the proper functioning of sewing equipment, minimize downtime, and support the production of high-quality textile products. This role involves a combination of mechanical skills, troubleshooting abilities, and knowledge of sewing machine technology.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Machine Inspection and Diagnosis:
• Conduct regular inspections of industrial sewing machines to identify issues, defects, or signs of wear.
• Diagnose mechanical, electrical, and electronic problems to determine the root cause of malfunctions.
2. Routine Maintenance:
• Perform routine maintenance tasks on sewing machines, including lubrication, cleaning, and adjustment of components.
• Replace worn or defective parts to prevent breakdowns and ensure optimal machine performance.
3. Repair and Troubleshooting:
• Execute timely and effective repairs on industrial sewing machines, addressing issues such as thread tension, stitch irregularities, and motor malfunctions.
• Troubleshoot and resolve complex problems related to machine operation, electrical systems, and computerized controls.
4. Installation and Calibration:
• Install new sewing machines or reposition existing ones to optimize workflow and production efficiency.
• Calibrate machines to meet specific production requirements, ensuring accurate stitching and product consistency.
5. Documentation:
• Maintain detailed records of machine inspections, maintenance activities, and repairs performed.
• Document any modifications made to machines and keep an inventory of spare parts.
6. Training and Support:
• Provide training and support to machine operators and production staff on basic maintenance procedures.
• Offer guidance on best practices for machine operation and troubleshooting.
7. Safety Compliance:
• Ensure that all industrial sewing machines meet safety standards and regulations.
• Identify and rectify potential safety hazards associated with sewing equipment.
8. Stay Informed:
• Stay abreast of advancements in sewing machine technology and industry best practices.
• Attend training sessions or workshops to enhance technical knowledge and skills.

• Proven experience as an industrial sewing machine mechanic or similar role.
• Strong knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and electronic systems in industrial sewing machines.
• Proficient in using hand tools, power tools, and specialized equipment for repairs.
• Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, schematics, and blueprints.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to work independently or collaboratively with a team.
• Physical stamina and agility to handle the demands of working with heavy machinery.
