The vacancy at Gurdwara Sahib Woolwich is for a Granthi, responsible for performing a range of Sikh religious duties. Key qualifications and responsibilities include:
Key Responsibilities:
• Leading the Sikh sangat (congregation) in prayer.
• Performing Kirtan (devotional music) and Ardas (prayer).
• Conducting religious services such as Diwans (congregational services), weddings, engagements, funerals, birthdays, and other important occasions.
• Inspiring the sangat and providing spiritual direction.
Candidate Requirements:
• Must be Amritdhari (initiated Sikh) and live in accordance with Sikh principles and the Sikh Rehat Maryada (code of conduct).
• Minimum 2 years’ experience in a busy Gurdwara environment.
• Extensive knowledge of Gurbani, Sikh principles, values, and history.
• Fluent in Punjabi (both written and verbal), with the ability to communicate effectively with sangat of all age groups.
• Proficiency in Kirtan, including singing classical ragas and playing musical instruments like harmonium and tabla (basic requirements). Knowledge of additional instruments is a plus.
• Ability to perform all aspects of Gurdwara activities with respect for Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji.
