We are seeking an ambitious and proactive HR Adviser to join our team, providing operational HR support across Trust in Learning (Academies) schools. In this role, you will assist the HR Manager (HRM) and Senior HR Manager (SHRM) in delivering expert advice on HR administration, data management, and a wide range of employee relations matters, including disciplinary procedures, grievances, performance management, and change management.
As an HR Adviser, you will guide managers in applying employment law and Trust policies, ensuring consistency across the organisation. You'll also coach and support managers through various operational challenges, from investigations and appraisals to hearings and organisational change initiatives. Key Responsibilities: Expert HR Guidance: Provide managers with professional advice on disciplinary actions, performance management, grievances, long-term sickness, absenteeism, employee welfare, and other operational HR matters. Disciplinary and Grievance Support: Collaborate with HRM and SHRM to ensure compliance with employment law and Trust policies in investigations and summary reports. Sickness Absence Management: Guide managers on managing sickness absences effectively, including Occupational Health referrals and resolving cases through return to work, redeployment, or other appropriate measures. Change Management: Advise on organisational changes, including restructuring, job descriptions, redundancy, and HR risk considerations. Recruitment and Selection: Participate in recruitment processes, advising on best practices for shortlisting, interviews, and assessment centers to align with Trust values and professional HR standards. Employee Conditions: Support the creation and revision of job descriptions and employee conditions of service, ensuring alignment with Trust processes. Documentation and HR Systems: Coordinate the preparation of appointment documentation and manage employee records on the HR/payroll system. Risk and Policy Compliance: Work with HRM and SHRM on complex issues, ensuring compliance with Trust policies and health and safety legislation. Reporting: Provide HR-related statistics, including data on employee numbers, sickness, overtime, and equal opportunities, to inform decision-making. Training, Support, and Work Allocation: You will work closely with the HRM and SHRM to progress cases, manage projects, and address queries requiring specialised HR knowledge. While key priorities will be set by the SHRM, you will also have the autonomy to set additional priorities based on your experience and collaboration with the HRM. You will be responsible for supporting all HR team members and ensuring effective handling of advice requests. Upon appointment, you will receive training in recruitment, disciplinary and grievance procedures, Trust conditions of service, Equal Opportunities, and other relevant policies and legislation. Qualifications and Growth Opportunities: This is a growth role, and the successful candidate is expected to either hold or be willing to pursue a Level 7 qualification with the CIPD. We are committed to supporting your professional development. Why Join Us? You’ll be part of an organisation committed to making a tangible difference in the lives of young people in some of the most deprived areas of Bristol, and part of a supportive and dedicated team that truly values collaboration and innovation.
