LOCUM CONSULTANT IN COLORECTAL SURGERY

A whole-time/part-time post as Consultant in Colorectal Surgery is available now at Oxford University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.

This is one-year fixed term post available from December 2024

The appointment is on a whole-time/part-time basis, but applications are welcome from those who wish to job share.



Surgical management of Elective and Emergency Colorectal Surgery. The candidate will work within a department of 10 colorectal surgeons across three sites delivering cancer, benign and proctology surgery.

Activity will also include delivery of lower GI endoscopy lists and participation in the Emergency General Surgery service based at the John Radcliffe Hospital



The Colorectal Service is a department of 10 colorectal surgeons within the Surgical Directorate based at the Churchill Hospital . The Directorate comprises of: Colorectal Surgery, Upper Gastrointestinal Surgery, Oncoplastic Breast Surgery, Hepatobiliary Surgery, Endocrine Surgery, Elective and Emergency General Surgery

The Directorate is part of the SUWON Division ( Cancer & Haematology, Gastro Endoscopy & Theatres, Renal, Transplant & Urology, Gynae and Obstetrics)

The department’s expertise covers the full range of colorectal surgery with high volumes of colorectal cancer, inflammatory bowel disease, pelvic floor disorders and proctology. The new consultant will have a broad training in colorectal surgery and able to integrate and help develop the above services.



Clinically , the post-holder will work in the field of Colorectal Surgery, providing elective Theatre, Clinic and Lower GI Endoscopy services and contribute to the reduction of the colorectal waiting list in proctology.

The post holder will participate in the on-call rota for Emergency General Surgery services based at the John Radcliffe Hospital site working alongside a team of dedicated Emergency Surgeons
