The Pharmacy Department at Barts Health covers a population of 2.5 million. We provide medicines management and medicines optimisation services from our four hospital sites across the City of London and East London.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for the role of the Lead Medicines Management Pharmacy Technician position at the Royal London Hospital.

The post holder will be responsible for managing the ward based team of Pharmacy Technicians, pre-registration pharmacy technicians and Medicines Management pharmacy assistants. They will be responsible for providing a patient facing service to the inpatient wards and organising the operational flow of the service.

· The post holder will carry out the full range of duties as the Lead Medicines Management Pharmacy Technician to deliver patient focused, quality care, at the Royal London Hospital.

· The post holder will be responsible for managing the ward-based team of Pharmacy Technicians, pre-registration pharmacy technicians and Medicines Management pharmacy assistants. They will be responsible for providing a patient facing service to the inpatient wards and organising the operational flow of the service.

· To provide leadership to the medicines management pharmacy technicians (MMTs) in the promotion and development of ward-based pharmacy technician services.



· To assist the pharmacists in ensuring that the patients' pharmaceutical care needs are met at ward level. This includes non-stock supply, re-use of patients' own drugs, discharge planning, patient counselling and provision of compliance aids.



· To develop the service and roles of the medicines management technicians in conjunction with the clinical pharmacy team.



· The post holder will work closely with the Deputy Head of Pharmacy and the Site Lead Pharmacy Technician (SLPT).
