We are looking for an enthusiastic and highly motivated Senior Pharmacy Technician to join our busy and dynamic pharmacy team at the Newham University Hospital. You will support the clinical and operational pharmacy team to effectively deliver quality care to patients at ward level and from dispensary and pharmacy stores through efficient medicines optimisation and supply. There will be opportunities to support with training and development of trainee pharmacists, rotational pharmacy technicians and trainee pharmacy technicians and assistants.

As a Senior Pharmacy Technician, you will work closely with the operational team within dispensary and stores, the clinical ward pharmacy team and the wider MDT, as well as supporting with the development of pharmacy technicians and trainees

· Undertake projects - support the Site Lead Pharmacy Technician and Lead Pharmacy Technicians in developing systems forserviceprovision, whichenhancetheefficiencyoftheservice

· Be responsible for providing a Medicines Management service to ward areas, which involves working unsupervised in clinical areas

· Day to day line management of pharmacy support workers undertaking QCF / NVQ level 2 and 3 and ACPT

· Undertake duties and responsibilities as an Accuracy Checking Pharmacy Technician (ACPT)

· Participate in the recruitment and selection of Pharmacy staff.

· Be responsible for providing a patient facing service to the inpatient wards including appropriate use and supply of medicines,obtaining medication histories for newly admitted patients (or those transferring from different levels of care setting, e.g., step down from ICU / HDU), undertaking medicines reconciliation and communicating discrepancies to relevant healthcare professionals.

· Consult with patients regarding their medication regimes in order to optimisemedicines and support their understanding of their treatment, including benefits of their medication and possible side effects. These may be patients with special needs, e.g., hearing impairment, learning disability or language translation requirements
