An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Senior Research Governance and Intellectual Property Facilitator to join the Research and Development Department at UHCW NHS Trust in Coventry. We are looking for an enthusiastic, pro-active and hard-working individual who enjoys working in a busy working environment.

The post holder will play a key role in providing support and guidance on research data requests in line with the Data Protection Act 2018 and General Data Protection Regulations. They will support the Industrial Partnerships & Intellectual Property Manager in providing specialised advice and guidance relating to intellectual property. Working across the wider R&D team and Trust the post holder will work with clinicians and research nurses and therefore excellent communication skills, and a positive can-do attitude are essential.

Expert knowledge is not expected at this stage, but the successful candidate will be expected to demonstrate an interest in data governance and intellectual property together with an understanding of why they are important in a research context.

Applicants will need to be computer literate in Word, Excel and Outlook mail with good organisational skills and meticulous attention to detail. Individuals must have the ability to multi task, manage and prioritise your own workload and be able to work on both your own initiative and as part of a team.

The Senior Research Governance and Intellectual Property Facilitator will have a responsibility to ensure that all research is conducted in accordance with the Trust’s requirements, current legislation, national guidelines and Trust policies. They will provide support and guidance on research data requests in line with the Data Protection Act 2018 and General Data Protection Regulations (GDPR) and lead on the management of research Data Sharing Agreements. The post holder will also support the Industrial Partnerships & Intellectual Property Manager in providing specialised advice and guidance relating to intellectual property (IP).

Th post holder will also guide compliance with the Trust policies for Research Governance as well as Good Clinical Practice Guidelines (EU Directive on the Medicines for Human Use (Clinical Trials) Regulations 2004), the Data Protection Act 2018 and General Data Protection Regulations for which training updates will be provided.

Data Protection, Finance and Contracts:

· Lead on the management and administration of Data Sharing and Data Processing Agreements for research.

· Reviewing and managing agreements involving use of data to ensure compliance with Trust Data Protection and Confidentiality Policy and GDPR.

· Manage research data requests and ensure their security and compliance with the Data Protection Act 2018.

· Supporting researchers in the completion of Data Protection Risk Assessments (DPIA) by liaising with relevant support departments in the Trust (I.e. ICT and Information Governance)

· Providing advice to staff engaging in research on the preferred way in which data should be collected and made available in accordance with policies and legislation.

· To review, streamline and update processes for data requests to improve data quality and accessibility within the service.

· Providing support and guidance on research projects involving the use of data and ensuring appropriate regulatory approvals and processes are in place.

· Manage and approve non-stock requisitions via Integra for R&D

· Support the contracts team in raising Purchase Orders and approving invoicing for R&D projects

Research Governance

· Manage research requests that fall outside the scope of NHS Research Ethics.

· To take part in decision making and influence departmental changes, and contribute to and participate in, reviews of systems, policies and procedures.

· Supporting with incident management and investigations where necessary.

· Ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements by implementing appropriate audit and monitoring systems.

· Liasing with support departments (i.e. Performance and Informatics, Radiology, Pharmacy etc) to successfully support research projects.

· Communicating effectively with the clinicians and research teams providing clinical trials support to ensure best practice is achieved.

· Contributing to and managing, as required, the development of clinical and research policies / procedures / SOPs.

· Managing workload effectively and in accordance with guidance relating to Research Governance.
