Summary

MTS Health (part of Sodexo Health and Care) have an exciting opportunity for a dynamic highly experienced person to become our Head of Biomedical Operations to lead our Operational business delivering Medical Device Maintenance and Management services to our customers.

You will be responsible for further developing and delivering a comprehensive medical device service delivery function, ensuring compliance with both quality standards and customer expectations.

You will oversee the site delivery working closely with our Team Leaders and Customer Services/Administration team and will work closely with our Head of Quality and Performance to ensure operational excellence, compliance, and continuous improvement overseeing the training and competencies of our engineering teams.

Above all you will play a key role in managing and developing customer relationships. You will do this by immediately understanding the requirements of our clients and ensuring that their expectations are always met or exceeded.

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Have day to day responsibility for the company Biomedical Engineering services. This will include both biomedical engineers and administration staff
  • Proactively advise Client organisations with their medical devices strategy drawing on our highly regarded advisory expertise where appropriate
  • The overall responsibility of staff development and training requirement to advance their development including managing our apprentice and intern programmes
  • Manage the revenue and associated costs relating to each biomedical engineering contract.
  • Manage budgets with a focus on both good service quality, innovation and efficiencies both to the business and our customers
  • Lead on Health and Safety for the Biomedical Engineering Team and Zero Harm Mindset
  • Ensure that the service provided is regulatory compliant and produce monthly KPI reports to evidence all service delivery
  • Oversee the e-Quip Asset Management system for the Biomedical Engineering team introducing innovation to drive efficiency
  • Support new bids and improvement initiatives

THE IDEAL CANDIDATE

To be successful in this role you will already have a solid technical and managerial background in the field of biomedical engineering in both community and acute settings. A passion for quality and continuous improvement is essential. You will have a proven track record of successfully managing operations against an agreed specification and the strong leadership qualities needed to seize the initiative and drive results. You will have experience of Quality processes / systems but most importantly be able to embed quality at every level in to our business

When our clients need an expert, you will be the go-to person, so a strong on-site presence is essential, therefore you must have the flexibility to regularly travel to create on-site engagement with customers and MTS teams.

It is essential that you also have:

  • The ability to manage and motivate large multi skilled teams
  • Sound educational background to Degree level or equivalent
  • Professionally qualified (I.Eng, C.Eng) or willing to work towards registration
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively with customers, suppliers, clients and internal team members at all levels of the business including the Sodexo
  • High level of knowledge and use of excel (Pivot tables etc) as well as communicate to a high standard and accuracy in Outlook and Word
  • Experience with using equipment management databases and associated data analysis
  • Strong financial awareness and management with great PC skills
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to influence key decision makers
  • Proven ability to plan and achieve results in difficult situations and in limited timeframe.
  • Proven experience of managing employees, addressing performance issues effectively and motivating to maximise engagement
  • The ability to robustly deliver continuous improvement and change where necessary.
  • Proven experience of holding others accountable for high performance – setting high standards and expectations of others and the ability to challenge the status quo
  • Ability to identify new opportunities and work as part of the Senior Management team to create growth
