Summary


An opportunity has arisen for a highly motivated and enthusiastic midwife, who has experience of working on labour ward, to join our friendly team as a band 7 co-ordinator on Delivery Suite to cover maternity leave.

This is an ideal opportunity for a senior Band 6 who is looking to develop their clinical skills and gain experience to become an exemplary leader.

We are supportive of flexible working arrangements, and part-time options are also available.

The Delivery Suite Coordinator holds the key responsibility and accountability for the ongoing daily management of the clinical area. They should possess excellent communication skills with the ability to manage change, difficult situations and work in a challenging environment to ensure quality standards are achieved.

The post-holder will maintain a visible and approachable presence within the clinical area of responsibility for staff, students and service users, including their families.

You will have the opportunity to provide support, develop leadership and management skills, contributing to the wider multidisciplinary team.

While coordinating the delivery suite shift you will be expected to take overall responsibility for the maternity unit out of hours and will have experience as bleep holder and Risk and Governance.

With a new hospital planned for Watford and work underway to update theatres at St Albans City Hospital, this is an exciting time to join us.

• Develop and maintain effective working relationships with the multi-disciplinary team.

• Represent and promote the Maternity Department, Division, and Trust internally and externally as required.

• Provide and disseminate professional and clinical knowledge to staff and the multi-disciplinary team.
• To implement team philosophy of care and to create and maintain an effective communication system between all staff working in the maternity services to ensure a positive working environment is fostered.

• To have regular, effective communication with the Matron relating to management in the unit/community and its development.

• To participate in the use of language line and interpreting services in order to ensure effective communication with service users of various languages.

• To communicate highly sensitive and complex information to service users and their families, clearly explaining the benefits and risks of different care approaches and the alternatives available.

• To ensure that essential information on patient’s conditions and decisions taken regarding care are recorded and communicated appropriately according to Trust policy and Nursing and Midwifery Council guidelines.

• To promote user involvement in the provision of maternity services.

• Escalate concerns to the appropriate staff members i.e. manager on call, on call consultant.
