Summary


We are looking for a Fire Safety Officer to join part of our Safety and Security Department, they will work closely with Health and Safety, Security and H&S Training within the department as well as other departments such as Estates, Facilities and Clinical Teams.

We are looking to find an enthusiastic, dynamic and pro-active individual as well as someone who is forward thinking in the discipline of Fire Safety.

The role will cover Scarborough and Bridlington Hospitals.

Access to a vehicle that can be used for business purposes and hold a full and valid driving licence (role will involve travel to numerous addresses that cannot be easily accessed by public transport means) is required.

The primary role of the post holder is to undertake the duties of the Fire Safety Officer within the Safety and Security department. They will act as the Trust’s competent person in fire related issues in accordance with the Department of Health’s HTM 05-02 and the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005. In addition, the post holder will provide specialist fire safety advice and devise and deliver statutory fire safety training. The post holder will also be responsible for ensuring the Trust meets its statutory obligations regarding building fire safety and staff training.

The post holder will act as the specialist in the field of fire safety and will require the knowledge and experience necessary to understand what measures must be in place to ensure the organisation’s compliance with statutory fire safety regulations. The post holder must apply this knowledge to the management of fire safety in an acute healthcare setting to devise and implement fire safety precautions that are practicable and sufficient without unnecessarily impeding the delivery of healthcare services.
