The Deputy Vice-Chancellor (DVC) is a senior executive role, reporting directly to the Vice-Chancellor, and is crucial in leading the university’s strategic direction. This position focuses on achieving academic excellence, operational efficiency, and the university's strategic goals. The DVC will drive the academic strategy, uphold high academic standards, and ensure institutional success and financial sustainability. They will enhance the student experience and boost student achievement through effective leadership and a deep understanding of university and sector trends.
As a key member of the University’s Executive Board, the DVC will oversee academic performance, planning, and innovation. They will foster an inclusive and innovative educational environment, integrating equity, diversity, and inclusion into the university culture. The DVC will provide leadership for academic staff development, manage the academic portfolio, and ensure alignment with financial plans and strategic objectives. Representing the university locally, nationally, and internationally, the DVC will promote a culture of continuous improvement, accountability, and sustainability.
We seek a leader who will combine proven strategic, organisational and transformation leadership experience with the ability to lead and champion the academic experience of our students. Our new Deputy Vice-Chancellor will ensure that our university is well placed to seize the opportunities that ongoing change that the education sector and political environment continues to present, whilst shaping and executing the academic strategy, ensuring the highest academic standards, and achieving the university's strategic objectives through effective academic leadership and structures. This role is integral to driving both institutional success and financial sustainability.

In order to meet the Professorial criteria, you will need to demonstrate proven achievement against two criteria:
1. Outstanding achievement in
Research or
Professional Practice or
Teaching & Learning
and must also demonstrate
2. Very high level of achievement in relation to both
Professional Standing and
Senior leadership.
You will be expected to complete an application online for the role through the University’s recruitment process and provide the following documentation:
(i) An up to date current curriculum vitae;
(ii) A supporting covering letter outlining your suitability to the underlying role requirement, and;
(iii) The names of two employment referees (including ideally, the last line manager)
In addition, in order to meet the Professorial criteria, you will need to provide:
(iv) A written statement evidencing how you meet the criteria for the award of the title of Professor.
(v) Please also include four appropriately (Professorial) qualified referees in the relation to the Professorial title.

This role is eligible for sponsorship by the University, however, your individual circumstances must meet the criteria set out by UKVI; this includes meeting the English Language requirement and earning a salary that meets the highest of either the going rate for the SOC code or the minimum salary threshold for the Skilled Worker route (£38,700 per annum).
If you are successful, you will be required to undertake a Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check. The post for which you are applying is exempt from Section 4(2) of the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 requiring any spent convictions to be declared. Any information you provide will be treated in confidence and only used when considering your suitability for the post.
