You will be responsible for screening referrals and liaising with GPs / allied health professionals when additional information is required.
In conjunction with the senior nursing team / MDT you will be responsible for completing a full patient history and assessment of patients referred into the RIS, and deciding on most appropriate next steps.
You will be responsible for presenting your patients at the virtual MDT and making onward referrals where required.
You will be working within the existing live service for patients with non site-specific symptoms of cancer and will be part of pilot projects looking at self-referral for site specific symptoms.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Nurse Practitioner within the Wessex Rapid Investigation Service. You will have an instrumental role in the development and running of this service and will be supported to develop within this role.
This role is offered on a full-time basis (37.5 hours per week)

You will be joining an exciting, new and developing service, the Wessex Rapid Investigation Service (RIS).This is a regional service which is delivered using a virtual model, to provide a cancer fast track referral route for patients seen in Primary Care with non-specific symptoms. The RIS aims to speed up the cancer diagnosis for this typically hard to diagnose group and to improve overall patient experience.
You will be part of a small team and will very much be part of shaping and developing this new service as it scales, develops and diversifies.

You will work as an independent Practitioner under the supervision of the Senior Nurse Practitioner / Advanced Nurse Practitioner /Lead Nurse or Designated Medical Practitioner (DMP).
You will practice as a core member of the Rapid Investigation Service Team; you will have responsibility for the medical management of a defined patient or client group under guidance of the Consultant and Lead Nurse responsible for the care episode.
You will be expected to undertake all preparatory work prior to the patient undergoing diagnostics which may include consent, request of any further investigations and to highlight any potential complications to the Lead Nurse or medical colleagues.
You will be expected to work as an expert in clinical practice, demonstrate leadership capabilities, contribute to audit and quality improvements and support the education of self and others
