Summary

Nuclear Medicine is at present one of the most rapidly evolving medical specialisations; 50% of all procedures now carried out are less than five years old, and are relevant to oncology, cardiology and neurology all areas of key medical priority - and the INM has a leading role in supporting these. The work environment within this leading academic unit is both challenging and stimulating and fulfilling its remit as a centre for excellence in the field of nuclear medicine, the department is regularly called upon to introduce and innovate novel techniques and procedures, often requiring that these be developed solely using the knowledge and expertise drawn from its staff. The INM has specific research interests in the development of PET, SPECT and multi-modality imaging as investigative tools - particularly in the fields of oncology, cardiology, neurology, the study of osteoporosis, and in the application of novel techniques for radionuclide therapy. The Institute is based within the new, single-site UCH building located opposite the main UCL campus.
