Summary


The Pathology IT Team at CHFT is seeking an enthusiastic and experienced individual to join our small team, primarily based at Calderdale Royal Hospital. If you possess a solid understanding and experience in IT, particularly its application in healthcare and diagnostic laboratories, this opportunity could be ideal for you. In addition to handling routine tasks, the team is actively involved in deploying new digital solutions aimed at enhancing the efficiency and quality of diagnostic services for CHFT patients.

These initiatives encompass the introduction of a new Laboratory Information System, state-of-the-art analytical equipment, and the advancement of digital solutions in Histopathology and Transfusion.
• Ensure the delivery of appropriate training packages to various staff grades for all IT solutions within the directorate.
• To implement projects both independently and under the supervision of the Pathology IT manager, depending on the project.
• To take a lead role in the support, development, maintenance and administration of the Pathology IT system- iLab Apex and its linked systems, and any other Pathology IT systems.
• To perform and facilitate data extraction and reporting from Pathology IT systems.
• To ensure and maintain data quality within Pathology IT systems.
• To provide training and support for Pathology IT system users.
• To act as a link between the Pathology department and the local IT provider – The Health Informatics Service (THIS).

We employ more than 6,500 staff who deliver compassionate care from our two main hospitals, Calderdale Royal Hospital and Huddersfield Royal Infirmary as well as in community sites, health centres and in patients’ homes. We also are incredibly proud to have almost 150 volunteers here at CHFT.

We provide a range of services including urgent and emergency care; medical; surgical; maternity; gynaecology; critical care; children’s and young people’s services; end of life care and outpatient and diagnostic imaging services.

We provide community health services, including sexual health services in Calderdale from Calderdale Royal and local health centres. These include Todmorden Health Centre and Broad Street Plaza.

The main responsibilities of the post holder will be;

• The post holder will ensure the delivery of appropriate training packages for all IT solutions within the directorate.
• To implement projects both independently and under the supervision of the Pathology IT manager, depending on the project.
• To take a lead role in the support, development, maintenance and administration of the Pathology IT system- iLab Apex and its linked systems, and any other Pathology IT systems.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
• Help manage and maintain all Information systems within the directorate to
include:
o iLab Apex – Laboratory Information Systems (LIMS)
o Clinisys WinPath Enterprise
o ICE – Order Communication System
o Cerner Millennium – Trust Electronic Patient Record
o Centralink\ADM (Siemens diagnostics LTD)
o ICNET – Infraction Control Information System
o COBAS IT1000 – Point of Care management module.
o COGNOS report Writer/Scheduler
o Digital dictation and voice recognition software and hardware
o AutoCard request form Imaging scanning system
o DAWN, anticoagulation dosing software
o Pulse document control System
o Manage any other systems as required
• Take a lead role in maintenance of Data Quality within Pathology
• Take a lead role in developing and maintaining new and existing data extracts for reporting to National bodies, Trust’s Informatics manager, lab managers and finance team as required.
• Assist in delivery of Pathology IT training programs.
• Liaise with third party suppliers for advice, training and troubleshooting
queries.
• Develop and implement new and ongoing IT projects
• Manage and maintain departmental IT hardware in conjunction with the Trust IT provider (THIS)
• Act as a point of reference for Pathology staff and Trust Pathology users.
• Help manage and maintain interfaces to and from Pathology IT systems.
• Help manage and maintain Pathology Messaging Services such as HL7 and PMEP report feeds between Pathology IT system to Pathology users.
• Liaise with wards/departments and GP users.
• Help maintain Pathology Intranet and Internet sites.
• Attend national users groups for Pathology IT systems.
• Help ensure compliance with Information Governance in Pathology
