Here at Serco, we are seeking a Legal Executive to join our team and be a trusted member of the Environmental Services (ES) team. As our Legal Executive, you will support effective case management in the ES pre-action space and provide and enable value-add legal administrative support on commercial and contractual matters that are aligned to the sustainable achievement of the UK&E Division’s strategic priorities for the Environmental Services contract. You will assist with the day-to-day management of legal cases and build strong relationships with internal stakeholders to facilitate and provide efficient case management.

- Manage the Role accounts to triage matters.
- Produce and deliver training and reference materials.
- Undertaking legal research, using appropriate methods, and sourcing, presenting the results in an accurate and timely manner.
- Provide legal support to the designated senior lawyer/ heads and act as a legal resource providing help where required.
- Maintain integrity of precedent banks and reference material and ensure documents are regularly updated/reviewed.
- Matter management of documents being sent to and from the business ensuring all correspondence is labelled and stored correctly.
- Develop relationships with stakeholders from within the business.
- Liaise with insurance, the customer, and internal stakeholders to collaborate data to ensure accurate records are held in both departments.
- Organise case files, attend court inquests and tribunals, transcribe legal opinion and compile litigation bundles, file documents at court where required.
- Complete official documentation and write reports on cases, take witness statements, and attend meetings with experts or claimants where required.
- Generate quality management information and regularly report on material legal matters and projects to the UK&E General Counsel, as appropriate. This includes carrying out data analysis, identify trends and flag areas of concern.
- Ensure all work complies with risk management policies and procedures, in line with GDP.
What you’ll need to do the role:
- You should have legal qualification (preferably post LPC) or working towards.
- Understanding of timelines and the importance of adhering to deadlines, works well under pressure.
- Develop an understanding of internal legal matters including litigation processes.
- Focused on continuous improvement to identify more efficient methods of working rather than settling for status quo.
- Focused on self-development improving with every opportunity that arises.
- Highly developed people skills applicable at all levels of the organisation.
- Ability to build strong relationships across a diverse community of stakeholders at all levels of the organisation.
- Persuasive, concise, and clear verbal and written communicator.
- Ability to manage a wide and diverse caseload, work with changing priorities and thrive in a fast-paced dynamic environment.
- Inclusive, approachable, consultative, and enabling nature.
- Strong IT skills with accurate typing capability.
