Summary

Job Vacancy

The purpose of the post is to deliver key functions of the Lifelong Learning and Employability service through one-to-one key worker engagement with the Parental Employability Support service to offer a sustainable route out of poverty for many families. This includes some face-to-face delivery with a variety of learning/employability partners and local people in a group and one to one basis to:

  • Improve access into employment by progressing through all stages of the strategic pipeline
  • Address in-work poverty
  • Targeted support to help parents already in work to gain progression through a rewarding career change
  • Address their barrier to work
  • Support people to achieve their full potential
  • Promote fair working practices

The work areas above involve:

Employability Key Workers will provide pre-consistent advice, guidance and support that underpins the all-age No One Left Behind approach. Additionally, Employability Key Workers will provide aftercare training support to enable participants to sustain progression and promote fair working practices, including payment of the Living Wage.

Direct delivery of informal learning to support delivery of core and employability skills on an individual basis and through co-delivery of group work.

Support parents to participate in planned individual learning agreements

Input data into management information to support continuous improvement, create and support existing partnerships to increase operational delivery of learning and employability opportunities.

This includes liaison and negotiation with Staff in local Schools, Further and Higher Education establishments, Employers, DWP, SDS, Adult Services, Children's Services and Third Sector providers, Police and Fire Service. Support adults within Midlothian to secure positive destinations through individual support and targeted interventions. Considering the needs and preferences of individuals and the potential matching to appropriate opportunities for learning, life and work. Support implementation of strategies to help adults with additional support needs including challenging behaviour to secure positive outcomes for learning, life and work.

Represent Lifelong Learning & Employability at a variety of events including job fayres, Careers Events and community events.

Any other appropriate duties relating to the post.

The jobholder should be educated to SCQF Level 6 or have sound knowledge /experience of lifelong learning and/or employability programmes and projects including delivery of one-to-one caseloads.

Based on you working 36 hours over 52 weeks per year the minimum actual salary for this position is £28,984.95 per annum.
