The Role

Championing National Parks for Everyone is a National Lottery Heritage Funded project led by the charity Peak District Mosaic in collaboration with Yorkshire Dales, Peak District and North York Moors National Park Authorities, and Derbyshire Dales CVS. You will deliver project activity in the Yorkshire Dales National Park.

Our vision is that everyone should be confident to visit and enjoy our National Parks. This means that everyone can receive the health and well-being benefits of spending time in National Parks and has the knowledge to help protect them. However, we know there are inequalities in accessing National Parks, including people from Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic (BAME) communities and this is an exciting opportunity to work on a project that aims to change that.

The heart of the project is the 6-month Community Champion Training programme, which supports participants to gain the skills and knowledge for them to run safe and enjoyable activities within the National Park for friends, family and community members. This builds on the success of previous projects and aims to leave a successful legacy of Community Champions who will support others to visit in the future and who will be supported by the charity Peak District Mosaic.

About You

With an experience of developing and delivering activities or events, you will also have an awareness of engaging communities, with a specific emphasis on those from diverse backgrounds.

You will have an enthusiasm about making sure that our National Parks and outdoor spaces are for everyone together with an understanding of good health and safety and safeguarding practices.

The role requires regular travel to sites around the National Park, so you will need access to a vehicle, or access to a means of mobility support is required. If driving you must have a current valid driving licence and appropriate business insurance.

You will be required to undertake a criminal records (DBS) check as part of the recruitment process.

We aspire to have a diverse and inclusive workplace and strongly encourage applicants from all backgrounds to apply and join us.

We are a Disability Confident employer and guarantee to interview anyone with a disability whose application meets the essential criteria for the role.
