Summary

A Vacancy at Birmingham and Solihull Mental Health NHS Foundation Trust.

We are pleased to create an opportunity for a Clinical/Counselling Psychologist, working across our Community DBT (CASCADE) and Integrated Community Care and Recovery (ICCR) Service. We are looking for psychologists who are highly motivated to work with presentations encompassing risk, personality difficulties, complex trauma, mental health and social inequalities. This is an ideal post to apply your full range of psychological skills and knowledge including consultation, training, supervision, service development, leadership, and research in addition to direct clinical work.

CASCADE is anall-ages DBT-plusservice, delivering comprehensive, adapted and DBT-informed therapies, to treat core difficulties associated with severe emotional dysregulation, complex PTSD and other co-occurring presentations.

Our ICCR Community Hub provides community-based mental health services and you would be part of a team providing a range of psychological input to service users there. This post offers easily accessible travel routes including trains and buses.

We are a committed team, passionate about the care we deliver, and have a particular objective to improve access to specialist psychotherapies for our BAME and LGBTQ+ service users, and to provide an equitable, culturally adaptive service. We would welcome applications from those looking to build their clinical skills with a range of presenting difficulties and greater leadership roles to make a difference in the community.

We are looking for enthusiastic clinicians who can work as part of a multidisciplinary team, to provide a range of clinical services. The individual will have excellent opportunities to gain experience of multilevel service provision and to further develop skills of complex case assessment, formulation and the application of evidence based psychological interventions, for individuals and groups.

Within the CASCADE service you will join a team delivering comprehensive DBT, psychoeducation, mindfulness, family & carers groups. Dependent upon training, you will carry a small caseload of clients suitable for trauma work, therefore experience in DBT-adapted and integrated trauma therapies is desirable. You will work across ages 14-65+, with opportunities for direct family work, as well as specialist assessments and formulations. You will support implementation of DBT-informed groups across ICCR Community Hubs, supervise staff and deliver staff training.

Your role within an ICCR service would require you to have experience of working with service users with complex mental health and behavioural needs; additionally, to be familiar with the needs of a diverse BAME community and working in areas of high socioeconomic deprivation.

The post is suitable for a Psychologist trained in DBT, with experience of delivering other recommended psychotherapies to those presenting with EUPD. We welcome interest from candidates seeking development opportunity at a band 7 preceptorship level.
